1. l’Unifolié (The One Leafed)

    Slogan: Naturally Refined.

Description: We respectively reduce our countries identity to its most essential; linear and perfect. We remember yesterday as it has brought today that guides us towards tomorrow.

An excellent initiative by fellow OCAD (now OCAD University) alumnus Ibraheem Youssef, a Designer & Illustrator, currently based in Boston, MA that has gotten a fair share of attention across the province, country and now the world.

Below, you will find a slideshow outlining our process, a description of the initiative as well as a few applications we followed through on to carry our solution into the real world.

    From the150logo.ca:

“Recently, CBC.ca published an article showcasing and exploring five logos currently in development by the Federal Government for the country’s 150thanniversary, via a report prepared for the Department of Canadian Heritage.

As a Graphic Designer that has been working in the field of Design for 14 years, I was appalled by the quality and standard of the designs being presented. That sentiment was also shared by many other Designers like myself.

As cries of protest and disgust started to fill the digital airwaves via Facebook and twitter, I decided to do something about it. I went forth and contacted a group of esteemed, professional and award winning Canadian Graphic Designers and Art Directors and challenged them to create something better than what is currently being circulated in the media, and the response was very positive and supportive.

This website is the culmination of our collective efforts. The whole purpose of this activity is to prove that good design does exist in Canada, and as Canadian Designers we believe that Canada deserves better than what is being offered.”

  1. Such Music: Case Study

A Los Angeles, California-based forward thinking electronic music label came to us with an ambitious project; to create a new record label identity and all adjoining materials; print, web, & beyond.

Round 1 of identity design (shown below) sees clean, custom typography paired with a modern masterpiece; Gotham by Hoefler & Co. in varying weights to contrast the heaviness & lightness of each concept.

After some back & fourth relating to the typographic weight and colouring of Concept 2 (shown above), we expanded upon the initial concept to include an alternate identity where SUCH was spelt out in custom typography for more dynamic usage across offline and online applications.

  1. Gravity Sun Power – Case Study

A Creemore, Ontario-based certified installer of photo voltaic (solar) panels in both Canada and the U.S.A. where nature meets acid rock was requested.

Round 1 of identity design (shown below) sees colour, shape and concept achieving the above request. The only typography used was a favourite of the client: Fillmore by Altsys warped on Concept 2, while Concept 1 & Concept 2 are custom.

Concept 2 was further developed expanding the colour palette to represent sky, sun and ground; blue, orange and green. Psychedelic professionalism.
